Reflex History
Reflex Corporation was founded in 1977. Our office and production plant is located in Carlsbad, California. Initially, our Reflector ID-tag was the sole product of the company (thus the name "Reflex" as it reflects on one side). Business grew rapidly, and the Reflector ID-tag was soon
distributed all over the country.
Collars and leashes On a bright day sometime in the late 80's, it was determined that yes, dogs and cats actually need collars to wear with their ID-tags! In addition to more traditional solid colors, a demand for colorful, fun patterns was discovered. After many long hours, the sublimation process was mastered. The first Tuff Lock product line was born.
Veterinary Exclusive It was only appropriate that the right channel of distribution was determined to be through veterinarians; clients look to their veterinarians for advise on how to best care for their pets, and a quality collar (and leash) is a definite part of basic pet care. Tuff Lock became a veterinary exclusive brand.
Premium Tuff Lock In the mid 90's, the Tuff Lock collar went through a major revamp to receive a fresh look. It was actually more than a revamp - it was a completely new product!
Stock Box Program As a response to the traditional hassles of retailing - taking inventory, restocking, reordering - our unique Stock Box Program was created in 1997. It is an innovative solution for veterinarians who do not wish to spend too much time on retailing, yet want to be able to offer their clients collars and leashes. This program, where we loan the clinic backup inventory on consignment, quickly became very popular. Today, it is still a large part of our business, complemented by open stock sales (the traditional way of retailing).
